It’s the cough season?

Cough, cold and flu prevention at work and at home starts with awareness. When you or some one around you is coughing, check the below list to prevent the spread of infection.

If I am at Home60

I can decrease the spread of infection and help with cough prevention:

  • I wash my hands before and after I cook, visit sick friends or relatives, use the bathroom, clean the house, touch animals and blow my nose.
  • Sneeze or cough into a tissue or into my sleeve, not using my hand.
  • Clean surfaces that people touch a lot with high-quality microfiber cloth and a cleaner.
  • Buy color-coded microfiber cloths to clean the house. I use one color for the bathroom and another for the kitchen.
  • Disinfect the surfaces that get touched a lot, like door knobs, stair railings, and bathroom faucets.
  • Use a dishwasher for washable children’s toys with hard surfaces.
  • Use microfiber instead of sponges in your kitchen. Sponges are perfect breeding ground for germs.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing.60

  • I tell my employer when I am sick.
  • I stay home if possible to limit the chances of spreading the disease.
  • I avoid places where people gather (meetings, lunch breaks, etc.) if possible.
  • I make sure that frequently touched surfaces (doorknobs, keyboards, phones) are cleaned.
